Chelios recalled to NHL

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled 48 year old Chris Chelios

From NHL dot com:

Chelios has spent most of the season with the Thrashers' AHL team, the Chicago Wolves. In 46 games, he had 5 goals and 22 points, and was fourth in the league with a plus-34 rating.

"Chris has been an outstanding leader and mentor for our young players in Chicago and his level of play has made him deserving of this opportunity," said Thrashers GM Don Waddell. "He's a tremendous competitor who strengthens our group of defensemen and instantly adds a veteran presence to our locker room."

If he plays in the Thrashers' next game -- Thursday at Columbus -- it will start his 26th NHL season, which would tie Gordie Howe's League record. He'll also pass Boston's Mark Recchi, 42, to become the League's oldest active player. He also would become the fourth 40-year-old player in the League, joining Recchi, Phoenix's Mathieu Schneider (40), and San Jose's Rob Blake (40).

The Marxist, speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosi, is a complete JACKASS. In a recent speech, she praises the Obama takeover of your entire life bill. She tells her audience, in the clip below, that they we have to hand over all of our personal liberty to the Marxists in charge so we can find out what is actually in the bill.

I can't make this up.

How does she know what's in the bill? I'm sure she hasn't read it. I'm not sure she can read.

How about this. We don't care what's in it. We don't want it.

Devastating Loss for Red Wings!

Tonight's 4-2 loss to the Flames could be devastating to the Wings' playoff hopes. Again, they blew a lead. Albeit a 1 goal lead.

Entering the 3rd period the Wings led 2-1 but Calgary responded with 2 goals in the third and the Wings didn't have an answer.

The loss drops Detroit into 9th place, one point behind the Flames and with Nashville winning tonight at home, they could fall three points out of 7th.

They need to regroup for Thursday's game against the Wild.

Something just doesn't seem right the Red Wings. They seem to have long lapses during games when they just appear to be out it. With only 16 games left, they better find some answers soon or they'll be watching the playoffs on T.V. for the first time in 19 years.

Big Win! Wings down Hawk 5-4

The Red Wings overcame a 2 goal first period deficit to beat the Blackhawks this afternoon 5-4. The Wings exploded with 5 goals in the second period with Pavel Datsyuk scoring what proved to be the game winning goal.

There were two turning points in the game. The first was a giveaway by Valter Fillpula that lead to the Hawks second goal in the first period to give them a 2 goal lead. The second was a goal by Dustin Byfuglien. Byfuglien scored what appeared to be the Hawks 3rd goal. It was waived off for goalie interference but Byfuglien was not give a penalty.

Byfuglien's goal would have made it 3-0 Hawks but the wave off pumped new life into the Wings who promptly exploded for 5 goals going into the dressing room after two periods with a 5-2 lead.

However, a theme that has recurred constantly this season, is the Wings squandering leads. The Hawks scored 2 goals in the third but the Red Wings hung on for a big 5-4 victory.

The Wings need to address this problem to losing leads. Monday night in Colorado, they blew a 2-0 first period lead. Friday, they had a 4 goal lead going into the third period. Nashville scored two goals in the third before Zetterberg put the game out of reach with an empty netter. However, going into the playoffs the Red Wings need to find a way to hold lead and shut down the opposition if they plan on making the playoffs and/or making it out of the first round.

Note: Todd Bertuzzi suffered a lower body injury in the second period and did not return. Hopefully he'll be able to come back on Tuesday against the Flame. The Wings hold the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, 1 point ahead of the Flames and 1 point behind the 7th place Predators who lost today at home to the Canucks.

Wings beat Nashville 5-2

The Red Wings beat the Nashville Predators tonight to move 3 points ahead of eighth place Calgary and pulled within 3 points of sixth place Nashville.

This was big win especially come of a dismal performance at home against Vancouver on Wednesday. Datsyuk, Holmstrum, Helm(2), and Zetterberg (EN) scored for the Wings. Datsyuks' goal was fantastic and really got the Wings rolling. Take a look below.

Up next, Chicago on Sunday afternoon. Chicago will be a good test to see just where the Wings stand.

Penguin's fans give Buffalo goalie standing O!

The Buffalo Sabres played in Pittsburgh Tuesday night. Before the game the PA announcer introduced all the Penguins and Sabres players that participated in the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. When Ryan Miller was introduced, that night's opponent's goalie, the Pittsburgh fans gave him a standing ovation.

It was nice to see.

State Department building $1 billion embassy in London

Everybody has been call on to sacrifice. To cut back. Everybody, that is, except the Department of Defense, State Department, White House, Senate, House of Representatives, or anybody else associated with government.

No, the government is much to important to be fiscally restrained. The rest of us, the bougeious, we must sacrifice and except the extortion of more of our labor and property to glut the avarice of those that have let loose on us the dogs of war, and riot in our blood.

In the midst to the biggest economic crises since FDR's great depression, the state department has found $1 billion to build a new embassy in London. The new embassy will have its own moat.

Government also struggles with money, but the struggle centers on how to get more of your money into government coffers. Rather than expanding the Federal budget in the face of economic downturn, we should be focusing on eliminating waste and being the very best stewards of public funds that we can possibly be. Most businesses have had to streamline and cut back in order to survive, and so it is only fair for our government to do the same.

Instead, the State Department is building a $1 billion embassy in London, the most expensive ever built. The plans even include surrounding it with a moat! I asked the Secretary of State about this massive expenditure, and she claimed the funds for this were coming from the sale of other properties. If money can be saved, then save it! Don’t spend it on such an extravagant structure overseas when people back home can’t find jobs or pay bills. Not only that, but the administration has committed to doubling foreign aid. That is one promise that is likely to be kept, despite our economic crisis.

Not to be outdone, Ben Bernanke, who never knows anything except how to write checks to Goldman Sachs to cover their stupid bets going bad, has no intention of bailing out insolvent Greece, right. Not really.

I asked Chairman Bernanke about Federal Reserve agreements with foreign central banks and if he had had any conversations about bailing out Greece, which he flatly denied. However, he recently announced that the Federal Reserve will be looking into Goldman Sachs’ derivative agreements with Greece. Goldman Sachs, as we know, has “too big to fail” status with the Fed, so it is conceivable that any Greece-related catastrophic losses at Goldman Sachs will once again be passed on to taxpayers.

The president was told by his doctors to "moderate" his alcohol intake. This doesn't mean Obama is an alcoholic but a glimpse at his father's past should set off warming signals.

Obama signs extension of Patriot Act!

Forget the fact that he railed against it while in the senate and on the campaign trail, now that he is "president", Hussein the Usurper has no problem with the Patriot Act.

President Barack Obama has signed a one-year extension of several provisions in the nation's main counterterrorism law, the Patriot Act.

Provisions in the measure would have expired on Sunday without Obama's signature Saturday.

The act, which was adopted in the weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, expands the government's ability to monitor Americans in the name of national security.

Three sections of the Patriot Act that stay in force will:

_Authorize court-approved roving wiretaps that permit surveillance on multiple phones.

_Allow court-approved seizure of records and property in anti-terrorism operations.

_Permit surveillance against a so-called lone wolf, a non-U.S. citizen engaged in terrorism who may not be part of a recognized terrorist group.

Obama's signature comes after the House voted 315 to 97 Thursday to extend the measure.

The Marxists are in charge. Marxism is a lie. Obama is a Marxist, so naturally, Obama lies.

Sexy Slovenian, Tina Maze

Watching Tina Maze of Slovenia win the silver medal in the Women's, Alpine Skiing, Super-G reminded my of my trip to Slovenia in July of 2008. What struck me most about the country was not only it's geographic beauty but the beauty of its women as well.

I have not been everywhere but I have traveled extensively. My usual refrain is that there are beautiful women everywhere, especially in America, and that is absolutely true. However, Slovenia had the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Tina Maze is a perfect example and just a sample.

"Tinky Winky" as she's called loves the color purple and can often be found wearing a purple hat with the name of her primary sponsor, Milka Chocolate.

How thoughtful, South Korea builds special prison for foreigners

To make sure foreign criminals are comfortable, The Republic of South Korea, has built a special prison for foreign "visitors".

When I first heard this story, I thought they had to be talking about America.

From the BBC:

The prison offers Western food and satellite TV programmes in English, Chinese, Russian and Arabic.

The number of foreigners in South Korean jails has more than doubled in the past four years to about 1,500.

The prison's director said the inmates would still be able to pursue the "Korean dream" that had led them to the country in the first place.

Satellite TVs? In four different languages? For criminals?

Ron Paul wins CPAC straw poll!

The Conservative Political Action Conference ended today and a straw poll was taken for a presidential candidate in 2012. With 31% of the vote, Texas Congressman Ron Paul finished on top.

Who is Joe Stack?

Joe Stack is the software engineer that crashed his small aircraft into the IRS building in Austin, Texas. Before dismissing him as just another lunatic, as the state controlled media would like us to, read John W. Whitehead's column at Lew Rockwell dot com.

On Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, 53-year-old, financially strapped software engineer Joseph Stack crashed a small plane into an IRS office building in Austin, Texas. He left behind a wife, a stepdaughter and a suicide note he had posted on his software company’s website. By the following day, the various media pundits on the right and left had already dismissed Stack as a fringe lunatic, and anyone who agreed with Stack’s diatribe against an unjust government was labeled a crackpot. However, while you can – and should – disagree with the method of Stack’s madness, Americans shouldn’t be too quick to discount the source of his frustrations.

Clearly, Stack is neither a hero nor a martyr. Nor is he technically a terrorist. Rather, he is the end product of a system that pays little heed to the disaffected, discontent and voiceless. And while Stack may have been alone in the cockpit of that Piper Cherokee plane, he is not alone in his discontent and frustration.

Perhaps there is a little Joe Stack in a lot of us. Perhaps this is a wake up call.
